July 4th. 2007 is now history. All the hot dogs and hamburgers have been eaten, all the fireworks have had their blast, everyone has gone home happy and full.
How many of us stopped for a moment to say a prayer for those who were not able to take part in our celebration? those who have gone on ahead of us in history, who paid the ultiment sacrafice so we could celebrate this day? For those who are still with us but far away guarding our freedom so we could enjoy this day.
The Bible through Moses instructs the Hebrew children to celebrate the passover, and to tell the story of their deliverance from bondage to their children so they will never forget how God delivered them from bondage in Egypt.
Have you told your children why we celebrate July 4th.?
What does it mean to them except a time for fun, food and firecrackers?
Will you tell them about Valley Forge and the winter that so many lived through in cold and hunger, so we could celebrate this day in Freedom.
I thank God for this country and for the blessing of Freedom that he has bestowed on all of us, and it is my prayer this day that we will not forget to tell our children about how much God has blessed us.
Have a blessed rest of the year.
